And if any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. — Revelation 11:5–6

As you can see, these “two witnesses” appear to have supernatural powers and super natural protection. They are such a torment to people that people cellebrated their death after 3.5 years.

And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. — Revelation 11:10

Why didn’t they die earlier? What made the beast think he could kill them at the midpoint? I will get to my theory on that answer in this post.

Humble Pie

Over the past several weeks I have documented an alternative interpretation of Daniel 9:27 and looked down on those who didn’t understand my interpretation of this verse. Today I must apologize and repent from my pride, because I now believe this verse is a dual prophecy with even more incredible insights that will answer our question above. With the greatest humility, I would like to present the new insights with respect to these verses.

Lets review a traditional AMP reading of Daniel 9:27, with part of verse 26 which will become relevant later.

… And its end with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. Daniel 9:26
And he will confirm a covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come the one who makes desolate, until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, gushes forth (poured out, like a flood) on the one who makes desolate.”
— Daniel 9:27 NASB

Below is a slide that shows my interpretation of the same verse from the KJV.

Part of my argument against anti-christ interpretation was that I couldn’t see the antichrist making it desolate because of the overspreading of abominations. What does the anti-christ care about abominations? I was utilizing the King James version for that translation.

Then brother Aaron from GodAMinute shared a video where the last 7 words from Daniel 9:26 have a Gematria value of 2520, which when divided by a “360 day prophetic year” is 7 years… which he implied signaled the 7 year covenant interpretation in the next verse.

Daniel 9:26 Gematria of last 7 words: 2520

I didn’t know what to make of that, but it was unlikely enough to be purely random that it made me pause and think, especially because I was already mulling over the possibility that it was a dual prophecy.

Then it hit me like a flood! The last seven words are translated as:

And its end with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.

The word flood is used “three times” in Revelation 12.

And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. — Revelation 12:14–17

I believe Revelation 12 is tied to Revelation 11.

And when they (two witnesses) have finished their testimony (1260 days), the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them and kill them. 8And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which mystically is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. And those from the peoples and tribes and tongues and nations will look at their dead bodies for three and a half days, and will not permit their dead bodies to be laid in a tomb.  And after the three and a half days the breath of life from God came into them, and they stood on their feet; … And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies beheld them. And in that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; and seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. — Revelation 11:7–13

Daniel 11 connects the prince of the covenant to the army likened to a flood. This is more evidence that there is an anti-christ covenant that I previously ignored attributing Daniel 11 to past history rather than future. A mistake that many also make with respect to other verses describing the fall of Babylon. More Humble Pie for me.

And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant. — Daniel 11:22

Then Isaiah describes the enemy coming in like a flood by the Spirit of YHVH fights back and the Messiah goes to Zion and to those who have repented.

So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun . When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD. — Isaiah 59:19–20

Summarizing The Midpoint of Tribulation

So lets put this all together, after 1260 days (3.5 years) the Antichrist kills the two witnesses and then the woman flees for time, times, and half a time which is also 3.5 years. This places us at the midpoint of the tribulation with the abomination of desolation. The army of the antichrist destroys the city and sanctuary and it ends with a flood. This flood is the dragon (antichrist) sending the Army after the woman who flee, but the army is swallowed up by an earthquake and the dragon gives up and goes to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. Daniel 9:26
And he will confirm a covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come the one who makes desolate, until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, gushes forth (to melt, poured out like a water, flood) on the one who makes desolate.”
— Daniel 9:27 NASB

Notice that Daniel 9:27 also ends with a “gushing forth” which is similar language to a flood and means a pouring out of liquid.

The Overspreading Wings of Abomination

We can therefore conclude that there will be an antichrist covenant; however, the translation I presented is also a valid translation. But there is one pesky matter that needs to be resolved:

The KJV translation makes sense if Messiah is making the 2nd temple desolate because of the abominations, but makes no sense as the reason for the antichrist to make desolate.

for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation — Daniel 9:27 KJV

The NASB translation says the one who makes desolate comes on the wing of abominations. This translation makes no sense for the Messiah but could make sense for the antichrist.

and on the wing of abominations will come the one who makes desolate, until a complete destruction — Daniel 9:27 NASB

However, there is one added detail that brings it all home. I have been claiming that the Abomination of Desolation is a nuke. I made this claim in part because I linked it to fire and in part because those in Judah are told to flee with haste to the mountains, and not go back for anything. But also because of my study of Zechariah 5

Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two (נשים) fires, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.

Just like flood was used 3 times to link Daniel 9:26 to Revelation, I think wings was used 3 times to link Daniel 9:27 to Zech 5:9.

I have previously described Zech 5 with this picture:

two fires producing a long trail of feathery clouds in the wind
and on the wing of abominations will come the one who makes desolate, until a complete destruction — Daniel 9:27 NASB

Now with Daniel 9:27 translated similar to NASB we can see “on the contrail of a wickedness (nuke) comes that which makes desolate”.

Conclusion

Daniel 9:26–27 is telling two simultaneous prophecies that are both true and the abomination is potentially linked to nukes via the reference to “on the wing of abominations”.

Here is a side by side comparison of the two translations.
