LONDON (Bywire News) - Last week, Piers Morgan spectacularly crashed out of his own TV show after being taken to task by his own weatherman. He stormed off set, giving startled viewers the chance to finally find out what Susanna Reid’s voice sounds like. By the end of the day, ITV confirmed the nation’s favourite gammon would not be back.

However, what we didn’t know is what it is about Megan Markle that makes him so angry. However, a video from writer and comedian Jolyon Rubenstein offered a clue about why.

The clip has been shared thousands of times and tells the story of Megan and Morgan’s doomed friendship. It began in 2015 when the two started following each other on social media. Then, Morgan received the kind of message he might have been dreaming about: Megan was coming to Britain and she wanted to meet him.

Morgan takes up the story. “She walked in here from Wimbledon, and I was like ‘whoa’,” he says. “She was wearing a dress, dark glasses, and big heels and she wanted to drink a dirty martini, and I thought, this is my kind of girl.”

Sadly, for Piers it was not to be. Shortly after being ‘put in a taxi’ she met Prince Harry and the rest is history. Piers never heard from her again.

Piers was left feeling sad, let down and rejected.

“Megan will be sitting there thinking, you know what. I owe that guy,” he says although it’s not clear what exactly it is he thinks he’s owed. Perhaps she skipped out without buying a round? Who can say?

However, as so often rejection started to fester. Sadness turned to resentment and eventually to outright rage.

“Harry is responsible for me never speaking to Megan Markle again,” he complained on one show.

“I think Harry’s been as bad as Megan,” he ranted on another. “He’s this wet drip being bossed around by his American wife’.”

Finally, inevitably, we got to last week’s outburst. “I don’t believe a thing she says,” he raged, prompting his weatherman Alex Beresford to step to defend her honour.

“I understand you don’t like Meghan Markle. You’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme. And I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off.

"She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her."

This was too much for Morgan. By now he was in full bunny boiler mood. He stormed off and has kept walking ever since. Megan Markle was among the tens of thousands of people who complained.

This is not the first time Rubenstein’s videos have made a splash on social media. As one half of ‘The Revolution will be Televised,’ he excelled in viral worthy clips as he poked fun at the great and the good. His current project, Not the News, is doing much the same as he picks apart the week’s events.

With the BBC axing anything that sounds even vaguely anti-government, Not the News is filling a much-needed gap.
