LONDON (Bywire News) - The "likes" button feature has been scrapped by Facebook Inc, in its new redesigned version of public pages. The company announced the move, which impacts pages used by artists, public figures and brands, on Wednesday afternoon.

Following the new redesign, Facebook Pages will only allow users to see a pages follower count and access an active News Feed, where they can engage in conversations, interact with users, and fans, the social media company announced in a blog post.

When speaking about the redesign, Facebook said, "We are removing Likes and focusing on Followers to simplify the way people connect with their favorite Pages."
