Introduction

The monthly Block Producer (BP) meetings are meant to establish regular communications between the top 30 EOS BPs and the EOS Network Foundation (ENF) to foster an open dialogue between network operators and custodians in support of the mutual development of the EOS ecosystem.

Meeting Overview

The meeting began at 1:30 UTC on May 11th, 2023. Twenty-two BPs attended the call, and a total of twenty-eight people participated in the discussions, which ran for one hour. The Interprefy tool was used in the call for synchronous translation to facilitate the free flow of information across multiple languages in real-time.

ENF Communications Manager Beatrice Wang facilitated the meeting beginning with greetings to those in attendance, followed by an open call for questions throughout, an outline of the meeting format, and overview of the agenda.

EOS EVM

Since the launch of the EOS EVM on April 14th, the ecosystem response has been tremendous and it is our main focus right now. Fees captured through the EVM to date reveal significant organic interest and are nearly comparable, although still lower than the fees generated from REX, the EOS Resource Exchange.

There has been an Influx of new applicants to the Grant Framework from EVM projects, and we are working to increase business development support for EVM projects.

Enhancing security on the EOS EVM is a continual process. In addition to making the code open source and available for developers worldwide to scrutinize, and the initial fuzzing audit performed by Sentnl which revealed zero bugs, we are also finalizing the contract on a second security audit of the EOS EVM.

ENF developers are already working on v0.5 of the EVM and are on track to have it deployed within the coming month. We are determined and committed to making EOS EVM the best of the best.

ENV

Work on the ENV continues and there is a forthcoming MSIG proposal to transfer $20M from eosio.fund to launch Fund I.

Q&A

Q. Will we see liquidity be added to the EVM?

A. We are working with a few teams that we believe will be successful in the ecosystem, and in negotiations with specific applications which will lead to an official dex, and official swap. We are working towards getting funding from the network, so that the network will have equity.

Q. Is it the ENF or ENV that will be the liquidity provider?

A. Both.

Q. Regarding the collaboration with DWF, is there any update?

A. The agreements we have with them are now ongoing. The $15M external investment part of the agreement with DWF which is an external LP fund, that has not moved yet, that would come in and help out either on the formal LP fund II or III side of things on the ENV or direct deal flow in Fund I as a matching partner on investments from that fund.

One of the things we are doing that is very important on the ENV side of things is to ensure that we will be pairing investments with liquidity provisions. If you invest in projects, you must also support them, so for instance, with DWF, with every investment they make, we have liquidity provision agreements in place to provide liquidity and market making for those teams.

Upcoming Events

ENF Founder and CEO, Yves La Rose will continue traveling to Asia a good deal this year, including for Korean Blockchain Week, and to Singapore for Token2049.

EOS Network

The EOS Network is a 3rd generation blockchain platform powered by the EOS VM, a low-latency, highly performant, and extensible WebAssembly engine for deterministic execution of near feeless transactions; purpose-built for enabling optimal Web3 user and developer experiences. EOS is the flagship blockchain and financial center of the Antelope framework, serving as the driving force behind multi-chain collaboration and public goods funding for tools and infrastructure through the EOS Network Foundation (ENF).

EOS Network Foundation

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) was forged through a vision for a prosperous and decentralized future. Through our key stakeholder engagement, community programs, ecosystem funding, and support of an open technology ecosystem, the ENF is transforming Web3. Founded in 2021, the ENF is the hub for EOS Network, a leading open source platform with a suite of stable frameworks, tools, and libraries for blockchain deployments. Together, we are bringing innovations that our community builds and are committed to a stronger future for all.
