Nigeria's first coronavirus vaccines arrive in capital city of Abuja

ABUJA (Bywire News) - The first batches of the  Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine have arrived in Nigeria. The shots, which are part of the international COVAX scheme were delivered on Tuesday to the capital city Abuja.

The delivery consisted of 3.92 million doses that will help to kick start the extensive process of vaccinating Africa's most populated nation.

Nigeria, a country with a population of 200 million, is the third West African country to receive the COVAX shots, first were Ghana and the Ivory Coast, both of which have begun their vaccine rollout.
