LONDON (Bywire News) - Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Assairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met with Mayor of the City of London William Russel. The two discussed cooperation on a number of issues and how they can continue working together.

It’s a reminder of the increasingly important role Qatar is playing in the UK and its one which could prove vital as a no-deal cliff edge looms. Brexit talks between the UK and EU appear to have ground to a halt.

Boris Johnson’s last night's dinner with Ursula Von der Leyen appear to have done more harm than good. Both sides now appear to regard no deal as inevitable.

Having severed links with our closest trading partner, turned away from the largest single market in the world, the UK needs other partners in the post-Brexit world. It clearly hopes Qatar can be that partner.
