Swarms just got an upgrade!

Since the inception of Swarms, we have relied on objective metrics to rank and compensate active Bees. To improve the quality of comments, we must venture away from the safe space of objectivity. Today marks the day we set sail into the messy seas of subjectivity.

Creating an environment that fosters quality comments is difficult. Achieving it means knowledgeable and contributing community members. It’s the pinnacle of marketing. So we think it’s worth the effort.

We now have excellent processes for rewarding simple, objective tasks like a ReTweet. Although executing it was no simple task internally, it’s largely done and stable. We are now ready for the next chapter. It will require different processes. Here how it will work:

There are 3 categories of comments:

  • Not approved
  • Good comment
  • Great comment

To earn a good comment:

  • Relevant use of hashtags and cashtags
  • General knowledge about the specific content of the Swarm

To earn a great comment:

  • Relevant use of hashtags and cashtags
  • Deep knowledge about the specific content of the Swarm
  • Ability to write the comment so it speaks to followers who don’t know about crypto.

There are rewards for achieving a good or great comment depending on the Bee’s level.

There will be someone who decides the quality of the comment, rating them to trigger the distribution of rewards. In this initial phase, Jesse will perform the role. In the future, others who specialize on particular Swarmed content can fill the role.

Many Bees are not knowledgeable about crypto and therefore do not (currently) possess the skills to write great comments. There is a supplementary feature that is intended to maximize the quality of comments. Bees and everyone else will be able to join a weekly Twitter Space and Zoom call for educational content about the information we Swarm. These will be hosted by Jesse every Thursday at 1500 UTC. The sessions will be basic to accommodate Bees beginning their crypto journey.

The comment system won’t scale like other objective tasks. It will be harder. Over time, lessons will be saved, standards will be set and others can take Jesse’s place as an educator and comment grader.

Better comments are significantly increasing the value of Swarms. As always, we will be transparent. Anyone may request data on comments and their ratings.

Thank you for your continued support. Today marks a big step forward!
