Pomelo is helping to solve a big problem.

The problem is how to fund and build the tools, resources, and services that the Antelope ecosystem needs to grow and thrive.

Pomelo provides a place where you can get funding for your public good projects to build these core components. Matching partners provide a pool of funds for even bigger impact.

A public good is something that is freely available and benefits everyone equally. Open source software is an example of a public good. The creator of the code makes it available to everyone to use and modify.

What is Pomelo?

Pomelo is a crowdfunding platform where you can post your Web3 public good projects and bring your community along to support them. Projects also have their donations matched (based on the number of unique donors) from a pool of funds.

So, the funding comes from two places:

Donations: communities support the grants that they care about by donating to them.Matching pool: partners provide funds to be distributed using quadratic funding.

Pomelo has multiple seasons per year, with each season lasting 13 weeks.

Quadratic funding is a crowdfunding campaign where you match contributions from individuals with a pool raised from bigger donors. The greater the number of individuals that support a project, the more funds that project will receive from the matching pool.

Who creates the public goods?

Anyone can submit a grant application: developers, businesses, or individuals who have new or ongoing projects building public goods on the Antelope blockchains. All you need is an idea for a product or service that would benefit the ecosystem and a plan to build it.

Who are the matching partners?

The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) has donated matching funds to support public goods on Pomelo since Season 1.

The .gems studio team promotes each Pomelo season with a creative and thrilling NFT adventure. All NFT sales from the campaign are donated to that season’s matching pool.

Pomelo NFTs are a promotional series of digital collectibles.

Pomelo provides the opportunity for matching partners to find individuals and teams who are building exciting and high quality projects on the Antelope blockchains.

When they donate to Pomelo’s matching pool, partners get wider exposure and the chance to expand their communities.

Who donates?

Anyone! It’s as easy as browsing the grants and donating to the ones that you see value in.

You do need to create a Pomelo profile and connect your digital wallet (and have some EOS to spend), then you’re ready to go!

Why donate?

By donating to projects on Pomelo, you’re helping to fund the public goods we need to improve and mature the ecosystem.Donors choose which projects to donate to and those donations direct how the matching pool is distributed. The power is in the hands of individuals, not large groups with the most tokens.It feels good to give! Studies report greater happiness, increased satisfaction, and potential health benefits for those who give to help others.

What kind of projects are on Pomelo?

In general, they are digital public goods that benefit the Antelope ecosystem. By digital public goods, we mean open source software, open data, and open educational resources that are available to the community to adopt and reuse.

Some examples include outreach marketing, independent journalism, customer support services, decentralized finance software, NFT-related apps, gaming, decision-making software, and much more.

Decentralized finance (or DeFi) is a financial system that uses cryptocurrency and blockchain technology to manage financial transactions, removing the control banks and institutions have on financial services.
