NEW DELHI (Bywire News) - On Monday, India's national weather office said that the country is likely to experience an average amount of rainfall throughout August and September. The news has increased people's hopes for a bigger crop yield, India's economy strongly relies on the farm sector.
During a news conference, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the state-run India Meteorological Department (IMD), said, "As per most parameters, we expect monsoon rains to be normal in August and September this year."
According to the IMD, the definition of average rainfall is between 96% and 104%.
