LONDON (Bywire News) - Play-to-earn is an emerging industry in the blockchain space and with different chains housing a range of blockchain games, we take a look at developers who believe EOS, rather than other chains, is the place to be.
The EOSIO network has established itself as a decentralised system that makes it easier for developers to build decentralised applications using programming languages such as C++.
Its successful ICO was the building block for the blockchain managing to attract a large community of developers who have been attracted by the thought of building on the world’s most advanced blockchain. Whilst EOSIO experienced some high-profile teething problems, work is now being done to point the network in the right direction.
Today it represents one of the best options for blockchain games. Blockchain games have been struggling to scale on rival chains due to high transaction fees. However, with EOS offering virtually free transactions, builders have been turning their attention to the chain as it allows P2E gamers to send and receive $EOS tokens without any cost.
Here are some of the best games available on EOS right now.
Upland has been in open beta since 2020 and is available online and on mobile (android and IOS). Described as “the brand new NFT metaverse that is mapped to the real world” users will have the ability to buy, sell and trade virtual real estate which correlates with real-world addresses.
According to data derived from DappRadar, the game has had over 264,000 monthly users making it one of the largest and most dynamic play-to-earn gaming economies in existence. Its players have also supported the game through supply and demand.
The Upland gameplay takes place in San Francisco and New York. However, they have plans to keep adding cities in the future with a clear outline in its roadmap that can be found on its website and its whitepaper.
With a range of smart features and updates, Upland has a higher retention rate with increased daily transactions and active wallets.
Upland has wisely introduced a “getting started guide” which allows new players to get a touch base understanding of the game economy whilst the Upland.academy includes tips and tricks on how to advance further through the game. The Upland community discord is also a great place to start for any newbies.
With the recent partnership with EOS Authority and ClimateCare to ensure blockchain stability, they will aim to offset a year’s worth of carbon emissions for the whole EOS mainnet.
Wombat Dungeon Master
Another play-to-earn game catching attention on EOS is Wombat Dungeon Master which is an adventurous game which takes players on quests that intertwine blockchain and NFTs. At the time of writing, Wombat Dungeon Master had 7,950 players in a month.
Players become dungeon masters and set their own goals which would make them responsible for hiding treasures which come in the form of NFTs in the dungeon. Following that you send out wombats who equip different items like hats, lamps and digging tools which also come in the form of hidden NFT treasures in the dungeons.
Wombat Dungeon Master is available on EOS and WAX chains which allow players to be rewarded in native tokens $EOS or $WAX at the end of each season with May concluding its second season.
Prospectors is a massively multiplayer online strategy game that re-creates and mimics the Gold Rush environment of the 19th century.
Gamers will be able to get involved in finding, earning and trading assets like gold, tools and wood by partaking in gamified fungible token mechanics that are built around completing tasks and launching businesses or industries.
Prospectors’ players are assigned three workers who carry out various tasks. As a player, you can use your worker to carry out tasks or complete tasks for other players to earn a salary. This also incentivises players to interact with one another.
With a large community, DappRadar estimates it has around 4,290 monthly players.
Players deposit and withdraw money through an in-game bank and they can upgrade their skills by studying at a university with an opportunity to integrate with teams from other dApps. Prospectors are fun, easy to play and have plenty of potential to attract new members if they stay committed to development.
Crypto Dynasty, also known as EOS Dynasty, is an idle-role playing game that lets gamers send their heroes to challenge other players or fight enemies in the in-game arena. The endgame for players is to get as many castles as possible.
Based on the smart contract, Crypto Dynasty has numerous operations like mining plays that generate a range of exclusive tokens for players. The game’s native $TKT token can be staked in return for $EOS rewards.
EOS Dynasty has a reported 1,320 monthly players.
Last but not least is Blockchain Cuties – a collectable crypto game with minor similarities to the famous P2E games Axie Infinity and CryptoKitties.
Each player’s cutie is unique to them and can be anything from bear cubs to cats, lizards and puppies. As players advance through the game, they can collect cuties, breed them, and arm them which will then let them test their skills in battles which then get levelled up in battle. According to DappRadar, more than 500 players played Blockchain cuties on EOS in a month.
Blockchain Cutie’s in-game economy means players are able to trade their smart contracts on various chains such as EOS, Ethereum, Neo and Tron. The cuties are represented as NFTs and can be sold or transferred to other players.
