LONDON (Bywire News) - With the end of their term drawing near, most of the attention this week was taken up with preparations for the upcoming election, as well a sign-off meeting with Yves La Rose.

Chris Barnes

Hypha DAO is still up and running and is there for anyone who wants to try it. The website will be ready next week with the video coming out. He has been offered an opportunity to introduce the Eden process at the Independent National Convention in Austin Texas. The event brings together many of the non-mainstream parties in US politics such as libertarians. They will come together under one roof and coalesce under the idea of breaking away from the two-party system.

Eden would be suggested as the way in which any of these parties might elect their leadership. Eden, as a community, is doing a good job of proving that this approach can be successful. He says he hopes this might be an opportunity to bring in many other EOS people and generate a surge in membership.

Hahn Ryu

During a conference in Seoul. the Korean community members had a chance to come together and meet each other face to face for the first time. The event included a visit from Yves La Rose on his way through to Singapore.

He is also making a lot of progress on his proxy. The UX wireframes are almost ready to be coded. He expects it to be coded with their next meeting. He thinks it will be possible to get the proxy voting tool ready before their term ends. He is satisfied with the progress he has achieved so far.

He had the opportunity to introduce the Eden fractal process to political parties. There are two parties in Korea – Democratic and Conservative. He is showing how the fractal democratic process is working with Eden. They have shown interest so far seeing how it could be integrated into political parties around Korea.

Luka Percic

Has been finalising work with Edenia and expects it to be deployed before the election. His EOS bot is reaching the testing phase.

Dan Singjoy

Dan has been working on his Eden roadmap. He’s compiling a document, which people can contribute to and collaborate on.

The Eden Fractal event was held with lots of interesting discussions. He is also aiming to make a number of more proposals for the Eden community. He’s aiming to create an Eden social media application called Eden Talk. He’s at the stage where people can share their feedback and contributions.

Eden Builders – a community networking and blogging site.  Will be a LinkedIn for the Eden community in which developers can share what work they can do for Eden.

Much of this was discussed at this week’s Eden Townhall meeting.

Eden Election

October 18th with registrations closing on October 7th. Anyone who wants to get involved should register sooner rather than later to avoid some of the problems they had last time.

They are making a circle to lead the ceremony. Edgar believes the Vote circle has served its function. They had talked about Michael O'Sullivan having the responsibility of finding a presenter for the event. Edgar Fernandez of Edenia could handle the technology. This would replace the Vote circle which was run by Dominic to run the last election.

Luka makes the motion, Chris seconded and the group voted for it.

Bounty for a technical person for the election

Luka says there’s a need for a technical person to handle the election. They will have to go through any issues and will not be standing as part of the election. Luka suggested a bounty of 200 EOS to the community for this. If nobody wants this they could make a counter-offer.

Participation

“The biggest issue we need to resolve,” says Chris Barnes, “is low participation.” He will be contacting his invite list of members trying to drum up support for the election.  Hahn and Luka will do something similar with their lists.

Induction script

The script for induction that is currently used stems from Dan Larimer, but it is lengthy and some parts do not make sense. For example, Chris highlighted the issue of asking witnesses to confirm that the inductee has read the bylaws. That’s not something a witness would know for certain.

They suggest a slimmed-down version of the bylaws and the script to expedite the induction of the new members. There are also contradictions in the existing bylaws which need to be addressed.

They have added a requirement for the inductee to confirm that they have read the bylaws and will abide by them. As things stand the laws are subjective which means anyone can say whatever they like and they can make whatever changes they wish to the script.

Meeting with Yves

Finally, next Thursday they will be live streaming a meeting with Yves La Rose in advance of the end of their term. This will be a chance to review the work done over the course of their term and may include a further request for funding.

After something of a tense meeting at the start of their term, it will be interesting to see if he feels there has been more progress over the course of this term.
