LONDON (Bywire News) - Every week, the EOS community gets together for what it calls a fireside chat. It’s a chance to learn more about developments in the Ecosystem. Among the topics debated this week were the upcoming Antelope upgrade the EVM and inter-blockchain communication.

EOS Independence Day

EOS is getting ready to celebrate its very own 4th of July. Its Independence Day will be marked by the moment the Consensus Mechanism upgrade goes live. This will see the final shift away from Block.one’s EOSIO software moving fully onto Antelope. The coalition funded the Leap 3.1 network upgrade and there have been 31 weekly meetings involving block producers, node operators and EOS enthusiasts.

The Antelope coalition has, in Stephane’s words, brought the community much closer than usual which highlights a consensual excitement for the upgrade.

LEAP Weekly Huddles & Consensus Upgrade

The Leap upgrade calls are now happening every day until the launch. For 32 weeks straight, they have been preparing. The calls are tracked on GitHub which allows users to stay in the loop.

With the upcoming update, the team reiterated that the code will be owned by the community. With a consensus upgrade, there are many features that are not backwards compatible meaning that everyone has to migrate together. Until now, all previous upgrades had been coded by Block.one. However, as Daniel Keyes told everyone, the new Antelope involves a fork and puts it very much in the hands of the community with the EOS community GitHub repo.

Inter Blockchain Communications (IBC)

EOS IBC will be shortly live after the September 21st Hardfork. It’s an added feature for the new consensus upgrade. At launch, it will be an inter-blockchain communication system, between Antelope.io chains. However, integration with the cosmos ecosystem is also possible.

OCI & ENF Enter Long-Term Partnership

This week we saw the announcement of a long-term partnership between OCI and the ENF. OCI is a company that supplies developers for many other companies. The partnership will see OCI developers focusing on EOS priorities when it comes to protocol developments. The long-term contract was signed with the intention of making EOS the most performant and easy-to-use chain in the world.

Pomelo Updates

The season 3 analysis report still hasn’t been released but they are just putting the finishing touches with the analysis being complete. The only thing left is to translate and summarise the report. A sizeable amount of money has been reallocated from bad actors and given to those grants which played by the rules. In total, this amounts to about a third of the matching pool.

EVM X Ideathon & EVM Hackathon

Monday 19th September sees the launch of the EVM X Ideathon and EVM hackathon. Everything gets going at 14:00UTC with the opening ceremony including a speech from Nathan James from the ENF.

On the following Friday, September 23rd at 1600 UTC, the design thinking workshop will be hosted by Ben Sigmund. He will be going over some things to consider when coming up with an idea.

Then, next week Wednesday, September 28th and 1500 UTC, Helios’s own Gavriel Shaw is doing a pitch deck creation workshop as part of the ideathon is create and submit a pitch deck.

Greymass Support

The session included an update from Greymass and a reminder that they have been experiencing a problem with Anchor. They are keen for more details from users. The more information they have, the easier it will be for the team to come up with a solution.

EOS Bees Update

The EOS Bees are dedicated to boosting online sentiment about EOS. They are now coming to Telos and hopefully later for Wax in the hopes of continuing their expansion across the entire Antelope ecosystem.

Antelope Chains Consensus Upgrade Coordination

The upgrade to Antelope continues. Block producers and node developers have also upgraded and EOS Nation has also upgraded all their nodes on the Antelope Chains. However, the consensus upgrade has to be highly coordinated with block producers signing a 15/21 multi-sig to activate the upgrade.

EOS will be the first chain to activate but the others will be working towards that but they will take a bit more time.

EDEN Fractal

The EDEN fractal is a weekly meeting in which participants reward each other for their work within EOS. It is open to anyone and you do not have to be an Eden fractal member to participate. It’s a great way for anyone doing valuable work towards the building of EOS to gain recognition and rewards for their work.
