BRUSSELS (Bywire News) - On Tuesday, the European Commission said it plans to examine Poland's recent decision to dissolve its judges' disciplinary chamber, which according to critics is used to pressure judges.

Poland's announcement came just before Aug 16, a deadline set by the EU executive to disperse the Disciplinary Chamber, as the EU believes the chamber is used to exert political control over judges decisions.

A spokesperson for the EU Commission said during a news briefing, that the deadline of Aug 16 remains unchanged.
