LONDON (Bywire News) - With the explosion of the NFT sector, the market and users have also begun to discover the world of the metaverse, a world practically parallel to the real one in which you can explore and interact with other users and the various objects that are found in this online universe.
However, the metaverse is not entirely new. Indeed, anyone who has ever used or heard of Second Life will have already encountered it. This is a real metaverse which is centralised but has more than 70 million registered accounts, it involves many user-generated worlds and the sale of virtual items such as property. Users can control their own avatar, buy accessories for it and objects for homes and gardens. It is an incredibly successful business model and has generated more than $68 million in the sale of those virtual goods.
These numbers are helping to develop a trend that has excellent numbers and allows users to exploit the potential of the metaverse in many exciting ways. Obviously, not all metaverses are the same, and not all of them provide the exact same experience, but the one thing which unites them is having a digital space, usually created with programs emulating the world of video games, which can exploit a system of decentralised login through a wallet. In this way, you can use your own assets from one metaverse to another.
All this is made possible thanks to the blockchain. This allows users to make a leap of quality compared to a metaverse run on traditional networks where everything remains within the same program and we can’t take our assets with us. With the blockchain, it is possible to have control over your assets which could then be sold or traded for fiat or other cryptocurrencies.
However, it’s important to remember what we mean when we’re talking about the blockchain in this context. To many people, one blockchain is much the same as any other, but this is not the case. The main metaverses which have been built on Ethereum, for example, are extremely expensive to interact with due to the high cost of gas fees which create a really heavy expense, especially for those who may not be entirely familiar with this sector.
However, all is not lost because other blockchains have a host of exciting projects and come with lower fees that make the entire process much more seamless and effective. A prime example is EOS which, as well as offering much faster transactions, delivers them virtually free of charge.
Today we can see a number of projects that are either already with us or are under development all of which are aimed at the metaverse with the integration of NFT technology. This is the real engine that can enable them to operate in these digital worlds. The NFTs that we can already buy on various platforms will be available to use in these worlds which means we can actively use them as digitally relevant objects for these fantastic virtual worlds.
Here are some of the most exciting ones.
The Lost Diamond
This fascinating world takes the name of The Lost Diamond, a real treasure hunt to find the hidden EOS arranged in different checkpoints. Your task is to seek them out and recover them. If you remember Pokemon GO, this project more or less serves as an exact copy but on the EOS blockchain.
It is also interesting to note how NFT checkpoints will also be integrated which will help users to buy and sell the various challenges and obtain rewards. This combines something digital such as NFTs with a physical experience in which a challenge that begins on the digital metaverse can end in a playful and adventurous experience in the form of a treasure hunt.
Liquid
Another interesting project that is more aimed at developers is that of Liquid. It is mainly concerned with providing everything necessary to create virtual worlds with various libraries to develop both the digital world and integrate the necessary data with the blockchain, as it is crucial to always budget for the use of NFTs.
In doing so, the developers get an additional tool that they can use with various SDKs. Users can experiment and play games within these virtual worlds since it is possible to integrate and expand other ecosystems that exploit those libraries and therefore also move assets from one world to another and from one game to another. It should be remembered that they use the already run-in unity system as a graphics engine.
Farmland
This project focuses on a metaverse that combines the experience of a farming game with that of a metaverse expanding into a larger universe with even planets to colonize and much more. It comes with an advanced economy that reflects the traditional dynamics of the real world.
The great thing about Farmland is that it is possible to buy land, cultivate it, rent it out and much more. Obviously, these lands have an NFT structure and so can be transported and exchanged in a decentralised way.
Upland
Last but not least is the most famous program on the metaverse, Upland. This is effectively a digitised version of the traditional Monopoly, but with a fully digitised world which is an entirely visualised representation of planet Earth. Everyone can buy their own piece of property which is virtually identical to the real world.
The beauty of Upland is that it gives us the ability to enter a complex and varied metaverse as we start first by acquiring a digital space that corresponds with a physical part of the world. Interestingly it is even integrated with street view. You can make various offers to buy assets starting from a very favourable price of 2,000 UPX. Once you upgrade to full uplander status you can even build on that piece of land.
Upland is currently the most prolific and used game in the EOS ecosystem with more than 300,000 users in the last month demonstrating that little by little, even in this sector, users are becoming more active by the day. Among other things, metaventures have also been introduced such as having users who can create real shops in the Upland metaverse and sell their NFTs accordingly.

Tutto sui metaversi su EOS
Con l’esplosione del settore degli NFT, il mercato e gli utenti hanno anche iniziato a scoprire il mondo del metaverso, un mondo praticamente parallelo di quello reale in cui è possibile entrare ed interagire sia con altri utenti che con i vari oggetti che si trovano al loro interno.
Ma il metaverso e le sue potenzialità non sono qualcosa di nuovo o mai visto prima, infatti tutti conoscono o hanno sentito parlare del famoso mondo di Second Life, che a tutti gli effetti è un vero e proprio metaverso, centralizzato, ma comunque incredibile che dal 2003 ha macinato numeri su numeri, con oltre 70 milioni di account registrati e milioni di oggetti virtuali venduti, dove i maggiori articoli di successo riguardano l’apparenza dell’avatar, gli accessori per gli avatar, ed oggetti per case e giardini, generando oltre 68 milioni di dollari in oggetti virtuali.
Ed è grazie anche a questi numeri che chi ha le conoscenze e competenze per creare o sviluppare metaversi sa bene che questo filone, se prende piede, ha dei buoni margini e permette anche agli utenti di sfruttare lo stesso in vari modi.
Ovviamente non tutti i metaversi sono uguali e non tutti offrono le stesse esperienze, ma comunque quello che gli accomuna è l’avere uno spazio digitale virtuale, di solito creato con dei programmi che derivano dal mondo dei videogiochi, e che in più sfruttano un sistema di login decentralizzato con il proprio wallet, in quanto in questo modo si possono utilizzare anche i propri asset all’interno dello stesso metaverso.
Tutto questo è reso possibile grazie alla blockchain che permette di fare quel salto di qualità rispetto ai metaversi tradizionali dove il tutto rimane all’interno del programma e non possiamo portare con noi i nostri asset, diventando di fatto schiavi di utilizzare solo gli spazi dedicati per i nostri oggetti virtuali, che non sempre possiamo monetizzare ed estrarre dal gioco, ossia non possiamo venderli da altre parti in cambio di fiat o crypto in maniera semplice.
Non tutte le blockchain però hanno progetti interessanti e legati al metaverso e le principali che si trovano su Ethereum ovviamente sono davvero costose per poter interagire per via del costo del gas che è davvero una spesa pesante soprattutto per chi non conosce questo settore.
Ma non tutto è perduto in quanto anche su altre blockchain ci sono progetti interessanti e che sfruttando la blockchain sottostante riescono ad essere davvero competitive, come ad esempio quella di EOS che permette di avere transazioni praticamente gratuite.
Oggi vedremo alcuni dei progetti sviluppati o in fase di sviluppo tutti tesi al metaverso e con l’integrazione di NFT, che è il vero motore per poter poi operare in questi mondi virtuali, NFT che possiamo già acquistare in varie piattaforme e che in un futuro prossimo potremo utilizzarli attivamente come oggetti digitalmente rilevanti per questi mondi fantastici.
The Lost Diamond
Partiamo con qualcosa di davvero interessante è che prende il nome di The lost diamond, il dimante perduto, una vera e propria caccia al tesoro per trovare gli EOS nascosti sistemati in diversi checkpoint dove possiamo realmente andare a recuperare, se avete presente il gioco di Pokemon Go, allora questo progetto ne è l’esatta copia ma sulla blockchain di EOS.
Interessante inoltre notare come saranno integrati anche NFT checkpoint dove gli utenti potranno comprare e vendere le varie sfide ed ottenere ricompense, così facendo si unisce qualcosa di digitale come gli NFT ad un’esperienza fisica in quanto partendo da una sfida nata nel metaverso digitale della blockchain, si conclude nell’esperienza ludica ed avventurosa nella caccia al tesoro.
Liquid
Altro progetto interessante e che è più rivolto agli sviluppatori è quello di Liquid che si occupa principalmente di fornire tutto il necessario per creare i nostri mondi virtuali con varie librerie per sviluppare sia il mondo digitale che integrare i dati necessari con la blockchain, in quanto bisogna sempre preventivare l’utilizzo degli NFT.
Così facendo gli sviluppatori hanno uno strumento in più da poter utilizzare con vari SDK, e gli utenti possono sperimentare e giocare in questi mondi virtuali o anche giochi all’interno di questi mondi virtuali dato che è possibile integrare ed espandere altri ecosistemi che sfruttano le stesse librerie e quindi spostare anche gli asset da un mondo all’altro e da un gioco all’altro, e va ricordato che utilizzano il sistema già rodato di Unity come motore grafico.
Farmland
Questo progetto invece punta su un metaverso che unisce l’esperienza di un gioco di farming con quella di un metaverso espando in un universo più grande con addirittura pianeti da colonizzarsi e spostarsi, con un’economia avanzata e che rispecchia le dinamiche tradizionali del mondo reale.
Infatti è possibile acquistare terre, coltivare sulle stesse, darle in affitto ed altro ancora, ed ovviamente queste varie terre hanno proprio la struttura degli NFT e quindi possono essere trasportati e scambiati in maniera autonoma e decentralizzata, ed anche in questo caso parliamo di un progetto nato e sviluppato sulla blockchain di EOS.
Upland
Concludiamo questo articolo con il lama più famoso del metaverso, mascotte del celebre metaverso Upland che possiamo definire la versione digitalizzata di un Monopoly classico ma dove il tabellone è l’intero pianeta Terra virtualizzato e tuti possono comprarsi un pezzo, quasi del tutto identico a quello del mondo reale.
Il bello di Upland è la possibilità di entrare in un metaverso complesso e variegato in quanto si parte prima dall’acquisire uno spazio digitale e che corrisponde ad un posto fisico nel mondo (interessante la modalità street view integrata) e con le varie offerte è possibile acquistare degli asset per chi si trova all’inizio a prezzi davvero favoreli, di circa 2000 UPX, e poi una volta che si ottiene lo status di Uplander allora potremo anche costruire sopra il nostro pezzo di terra.
Non a caso Upland è il gioco metaverso più prolifico ed utilizzato nel panorama EOS con oltre 300mila utenti nell’ultimo mese, dimostrazione che poco alla volta anche in questo settore gli utenti sono sempre più attivi giorno dopo giorno, e tra l’altro di recente sono stati introdotti anche i metaventures ossia utenti che possono creare dei veri e propri negozi nel metaverso di Upland e vendere di conseguenza i loro NFT.
