Chief Delegates Meeting 11

With everyone still digesting their Turkey, it was a low key Chief Delegates meeting as they prepare for a busy 2022.

LONDON (Bywire News) -  The final Chief Delegates meeting of 2021 was inevitably quieter than usual with Christmas celebrations taking their toll and EOS news quiet. It is, however, a chance to pause and take stock as Eden decides what form it should take in 2022.

Individual updates

First a quick reminder about who the chief delegates are:

  • Aaron Cox: Co-Founder Greymass.
  • Chris Barnes: 1st Eden Mock Election winner.
  • Jesse Jaffe: EOS Bees Queen.
  • John Williamson: Founder Violet Garden
  • Brandon Lovejoy: Multimedia Creator.
  • Randall Roland: Founder of EOS Support

As always they started with individual updates, and perhaps understandably things were somewhat thin on the ground. Aaron Cox continues to contribute towards his working group white paper which they expect to release in mid-January.

Brandon Lovejoy sent a donation to Violet Garden and the Bees for this month, on top of the 300 EOS sent to the Korean community last week. He’s also doing work on the Discord Channel building Eden’s channel there.

Randall Roland has been adding how-to guides to EOS support and developing their plan for how they can expand in the future. Among the articles going up is a piece about the history of EOS from 2017 to the present day. It adds to the information resource they are looking to build up which can enable people to consume all the key information they need about the network.

EOS Support also wants to help with Recovery + working groups. They are keen to lend their expertise to the project. More importantly in the future – to at least help the team which wants to take it on themselves to recover funds.

Jesse Jaffe

Jaffe is working hard to get the whitepaper completed and are also continuing to record their popular Meet the Hives series with the latest focusing on the Turkish Hive. In this, he learned that when people in Turkey think of EOS, they think of the Bullish Exchange. He suggests there is a need to educate the Turkish community about all the things happening on EOS aside from just Bullish.

The question of Budgets

Beyond the updates, much of the focus was on budgets. Aaron Cox raised the issue of idly budgets and said that he wanted to make movements on his own excess budgets. He feels that he was allocated more money than he needed for his role and is keen to put some of that to good use.

The discussion focused on how much budget EOS actually needs. Jessie Jaffe had talked about increasing the current Eden Treasury by 2.27 times to bring the total to 600,000 EOS. This, he said, would be enough to support projects and make some of the progress which Eden needs.

Randal went even further suggesting the total should be at least one million EOS – the total they had been due to get from B1 until plans derailed. This money could be used to scale up productivity, incentivise people to get involved with the community and push forward with more ambitious projects.

For EOS Support he envisions a world in which they have translations for up to 200 languages so everyone can find the information they need in their own language. It’s an ambitious goal, but it is the scale on which he believes EOS should be thinking. However, at that scale, funding of a million EOS will not be enough.

The Delegates are working in a difficult and uncertain situation. All eyes are focusing on Dan Larimer, his white paper and what the future of EOS will look like. Questions remain about the role of the Chief Delegates, whether their budgets have been allocated appropriately and what they will do for the remainder of their term. All these questions will be answered as 2022 seriously kicks into gear.
