LONDON (Within The Law) -  The firm has promoted a further three in New York, two in Washington DC and Philadelphia and one in Paris and San Francisco, according to a report in the Lawyer. The four lawyers promoted in London include, John Bedford, Mark Evans, Jennifer Rees and Karen Stretch.

Bedford is a white-collar and investigations lawyer at the firm. He advises financial institutions, corporations and high-net-worth individuals on financial crime, commercial litigation and white-collar investigations. He recently supported the firm on its representation of Airbus, which reached its conclusion in January 2020. The team was led by Caroline Black, Neil Gerrard and Tim Bowden.

He joined Dechert from Sidley Austin in 2018, taking up the role of counsel. He had spent 12 years at Sidley, joining the firm’s London office as a trainee.

Evans and Rees are promoted into the firm’s corporate and securities team. Rees focuses on cross-border capital markets and corporate finance, specialising in emerging markets. She has been at Dechert for eight years.

She is joined by Evans, who focuses on corporate law, with an emphasis on private equity fund acquisitions, restructuring and joint ventures. He joined Dechert in 2017 from White & Case, where he was a senior associate. Before that, he trained at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and spent almost three years at the magic circle firm.

Stretch focuses on advisory and transactional derivatives, advising clients on a range of derivatives and regulatory matters, including portfolio swaps and stock loans. She trained at Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft, before moving to Paul Hastings in 2009 for two years.

She spent a further two years in-house at Societe Generale before returning to Paul Hastings as a senior associate. She left the firm and joined Dechert in 2018.

Dechert’s Andrew Levander said: “We are proud to welcome these highly talented lawyers into Dechert’s partnership. Their promotion is a reflection of their ability to build strong client relationships, as well as our commitment to developing and recognizing associate talent.”
