LONDON (Bywire News) - As most who follow EOS will know the network is in the middle of finalising a number of working groups focusing on improving EOS in various ways. The latest meeting was held via Zoom and can be viewed on YouTube. However, if you’d like to save a little time, here are the highlights.

Definition of Core Code

Their task is to set a definition for the threshold of the core base code and the scope of the initial setting for the essential block components.

Core Code defines what it takes to build something on EOSIO. This includes server software itself and system contracts but it also includes Core SDKs and API standards themselves. Those things make up the core building blocks of an EOSIO deployment. There are also questions about whether it includes CI/CO pipeline development.

That which is considered core development includes: native apps, system contracts, NodeOS and API standards. This is significant because arguably B1 did not include what they were supporting so they pushed out certain aspects but never maintained them. They will be improving on the situation they had over the last few years in which SDKs were not supported at the highest level. The goal is not to replicate anything which went before but make the best organisation possible as the EOS community defines it.

Proposal for funding and budgets

The user experience team has prepared docs and they have been meeting once a week to go over their proposal. They have included some other variables. However, they will not be sharing it today as it is intellectual property for the UX team. They would prefer to hold a call in private to share this information, before sharing it publicly. Having said that, the information is ready to be shared.

There is agreement that the focus of the target document is to back up their mission statement in defining the purpose of the working group.

Legal entity group

Next up was the report into recommended legal entities. Eden, with support from the ENF, commissioned a letter from a Canadian law firm on their options for setting up a legal document. They have been trying to obtain a document to make it public so they can see the various recommendations and decide what option to proceed with.

The letter sets out the various options they have when setting up a legal entity to be recognised going forward. The choice boils down to choosing a for-profit or not for profit structure, with the latter having been recommended by the law firm. The decision will be up to the group, but so far there has been no strong preference from anyone.
