DUBLIN (Bywire News) - Data published on Thursday revealed that in May, goods imports to Ireland from Britain decreased by 24%. Following the new post-Brexit trade restrictions, which were implemented at the start of 2020, this is the second smallest monthly drop.

The Central Statistics Office said that exports of Irish goods to Britain increased by 28% year by year. These unbalanced changes in both exports and imports were caused by reform in the trade of food, live animals, machinery and transport equipment

Trade in British-ruled Northern Ireland, continued to grow throughout May, with exports growing by up to 61% month-on-month, while imports doubled. Northern Ireland remained in the bloc's trading circle post-Brexit.
