LONDON (Bywire News) - Online retail store Bitcoin Movement has launched a limited edition line of streetwear featuring a blockchain-backed proof of authenticity system designed in collaboration with fashion influencer and rapper Zuby.

The 300 item collection consists of 50 hoodies, 125 Hats, and 125 T-Shirts, all bearing the logo ‘21 Million,’ a reference to the maximum number of Bitcoin which can ever be mined. Each of these pieces comes with a near field communication chip linked to the VeChain blockchain. Using a mobile app provided by Bitcoin Movement customers can scan a sticker attached to the garment and retrieve product information in real-time.

Assuming the product is authentic, the app will pop up with the message 100% genuine verified’ and display the specific number of the garment with a transaction ID linking it to the blockchain.

“I wanted our first blockchain limited edition collection to be truly representative of the philosophy of Bitcoin,” Founder of The Bitcoin Movement, Daryl Kelly. “Embodying the attributes that have made it so disruptive, successful, and attractive to those who seek truth and transparency. VeChain's industry-leading public blockchain technology perfectly fits our movement.”

This is not the only time a limited fashion release has been put out on the blockchain. The authenticity, transparency and traceability of the blockchain are being used to deter knock offs in industries of all sorts from art to fashion. Fashion makers around the world have been adopting the blockchain as a simple and secure way to guarantee authenticity.

Fashion house Alexander McQueen, for example, has also launched a new blockchain-based label which enables designers and consumers to securely register and trade clothing. Blockchain technology ensures that every transaction is recorded allowing customers to see a complete transaction history of every piece. The result is a secure and tamper-proof solution which provides the reassurance customers and designers need.
