We’re thrilled to share new Pomelo features that are coming your way in Season 3! We focused on items that we received feedback on and that needed improvement, as mentioned in our retrospective, Pomelo Season 2 in the Rear View.
There’s so much we want to develop for Pomelo, and yet we have to make the most of the time between seasons. We hope the following new features make your experience smoother and help you enjoy Season 3!
By popular demand — we heard you loud and clear!
✅Project updates and accomplishments
As many of you suggested, we need a consistent way for grant owners to provide project updates between seasons. Returning grants will now have a Last Season Update field as part of their grant application form. This will provide a dedicated spot to share regular progress updates on project commitments since the last season. Donors will be able to quickly and easily find and track project outcomes and deliverables. 👀
Along that same theme, we updated our Privacy Policy so we can share information with third parties who will verify progress updates, lending even more credibility. The EOS Network Foundation will fill this role for now, but the goal is to have a community member do this in the future.
✋Clarifying and promoting Pomelo rules
We’ve addressed the need for clear rules and up-to-date information to help grant owners and donors navigate Pomelo. To help achieve this, we added some rules to the grant application, and updated and expanded the Pomelo Wiki, which includes a summary of the rules in plain language, season summaries, more FAQs, a glossary of terms, and more. Check it out!
We removed self-donation as a prohibited action from our Terms and Conditions to be clear that team members won’t be penalized for donating to their own grants.
We also released the What’s a public good? article to provide tips for applicants on how to focus on the public good in their application and get their grant approved.
You may not notice this, but it deserves special mention 💖
Donors no longer need to worry about paying for CPU/NET resources to make a donation. Pomelo uses an EOSIO feature (ONLY_BILL_FIRST_AUTHORIZER) that enables us to pay for all your Pomelo transactions behind the scenes.
Donors won’t notice anything as all the magic happens in the background to provide this super smooth experience! We knew that last season some newer donors had their donations fail as there wasn’t enough in their account to cover CPU, and we were losing them. No more!

🍈Custom profile options
We know you’ll agree the most fun new feature for Season 3 is setting NFTs as your Pomelo profile picture, border, and… banner! But these features offer more than just something cool. 👇👇👇
As a grant owner, having a custom profile picture sets you apart from other grant owners who simply have a grey Pomelo. When donors are browsing through the grants page, your profile picture on your card makes your grant more attractive.
When your individual grant page has donors with custom profile pictures and borders, it shows that you have strong community support from highly engaged community members. Potential donors can use this as a reliable sign that they should donate to your quality grant.
As well, we’re living the values of Web3 and supporting other NFT collections by including the Boid Avatars.
The banner feature is so you can display your Rare and Ultra Rare Moon NFTs on your profile page!
🏆Achievement badge NFTs
Showcase your top contributions to Pomelo as a grant owner and donor with our new achievement badges. The donors who contribute the most EOS to grants in a season and grant owners who receive the highest amount from the matching pool are eligible for these coveted NFTs. Pomelo achievement badges display on your profile page and will earn you free Pomelo NFTs and bonuses in future seasons!
Helping you promote your grant
🌄New grant description field options
When creating your grant application, you now have options in the description field to upload and resize images instead of hosting them elsewhere. Got a video you want to share? You can also embed your YouTube video in this field using its URL.
Another new feature designed to help you easily promote your grant is a summary field. It displays a short description in the grid view and in social previews instead of a cut-off snippet of your main description.
📢New pitch session channel
Pitch sessions are returning with a new option: Twitter Spaces Rapid Fire. Hosted live on Twitter Spaces, grant owners pitch their project in 2 minutes and answer 1 question in 1 minute.
Returning this season are the EOS Community Fireside Chat pitches, which have moved to Twitter Spaces to be open to a wider audience, GenerEOS interviews, and Tencent meetings on WeChat. See details on all the pitch sessions and sign up here.
Strengthening Pomelo’s defence
🤝Trust bonus adoption
A key tactic to defend against bad actors is increasing adoption of the trust bonus. We encourage all grant donors to validate their passport and link multiple social media accounts (without exposing personal information). The trust bonus increases the likelihood that donations are coming from a real person with one account. A higher trust bonus means more matching funds for the projects you donate to while helping defend Pomelo against Sybil attacks.
We’ve updated the Create a Grant link to take you to your profile, where you can see the trust bonus tab. This makes it easy to find and verify your social accounts and passport.
Now that the passport verification is working for most passports, we’ll be promoting the trust bonus heavily throughout Season 3, with reminders for those who don’t have it yet. Join us in our goal to vastly increase adoption in Season 3! 💪
💰Matching funds limit
We’ve introduced a limit on how much matching funds one grant can receive. A single grant can’t receive more than 10% of the matching pool. You’ll see a message that displays when a grant has reached the 10% maximum. Of course, donations still matter as the matching estimate changes as donations continue throughout the round.

宣讲活动又多了一个新功能：Twitter Spaces Rapid Fire。在Twitter空间上直播，项目所有者在2分钟内介绍自己的项目，并在1分钟内回答社区的1个问题。
这一季回归的是EOS社区炉边谈话，它已经转移到Twitter空间，向更广泛的观众开放，GenerEOS访谈，以及在微信上的腾讯会议。在这里可以看到所有宣讲环节的细节并注册。
加强Pomelo防御
🤝采用信誉度
防范不良行为的一个关键策略是越来越多的用户采用信誉度机制。我们鼓励所有项目捐助者验证个人护照，并链接多个社交媒体账户(不暴露个人信息)。信誉度增加了捐助额来自真人的可信度。更高的信誉度意味着你捐助的项目会获得更多的匹配资金，同时帮助保护Pomelo免受女巫攻击。
我们已经更新了创建项目链接，您可以看到信誉度选项。这使得大家很容易找到并验证个人社交账号和护照。
现在大多数护照都有护照验证功能，我们将在第三季中大力推广信誉度，并为那些还没有信誉度的用户提供提醒。加入我们，在第三季中大幅提高信誉度采用率!💪
💰配套资金限制
我们已经对一个项目可以获得多少匹配资金进行了限制。单个项目不能获得超过匹配池的10%资金。当项目额达到10%的最大值时，您将看到一条消息。当然，捐助仍然很重要，因为匹配额估计会随着捐助持续变化。

💰매칭 펀드 상한
저희는 한 개 그란트가 받을 수 있는 매칭 금액에 상한을 적용하였습니다. 한 개 프로젝트는 매칭풀의 10% 이상을 받을 수 없습니다. 프로젝트가 10% 의 최대치에 도달했을때 메세지가 뜨게 됩니다. 물론, 기부는 여전히 중요하며 한 개 라운드의 기부가 계속 진행됨에 따라 매칭 추산액도 변화하기 때문입니다.
